I recently took part in Said Saddouk’s Virtual Facilitation Masterclass, which offers valuable skills for online teaching and event facilitation. I highly recommend this course to anyone in such roles. One key lesson I learned was using OBS Studio, a free and open-source tool. I created various ‘scenes’ for different purposes, like demonstrating technical tasks while remaining visible to students or displaying a countdown timer during breaks.
In a video I made, I showcase some skills acquired from the masterclass, recommending the course. Additionally, I’ve started to better utilize my Stream Deck, which I previously used only for launching apps. Thanks to Said, I can now switch between scenes in OBS, use reactions in Zoom, and control muting functions. My knowledge of optimizing Zoom for teaching and presentations has also expanded, aided by Said’s Zoom Optimization Guide available on his website.
There is still more to explore from Said’s course, but I’m able to proceed without feeling overwhelmed. I’ve developed a solid foundation of skills and tools to apply immediately while continuing my learning journey within Said’s community of facilitators.
