Ronny Chieng, an Emmy Award-winning comedian, actor, and writer, will be the speaker for Harvard College’s Class Day on May 27, preceding the institution’s 375th Commencement. Charisma Chen, the first marshal of the 2026 Class Committee, expressed enthusiasm about Chieng’s participation, highlighting his ability to transform everyday occurrences into relatable comedic narratives.<\/p>\n
Chieng is recognized for his political satire and observational comedy, having built a diverse career in stand-up, television, and film. His work on “The Daily Show” complements his three popular Netflix stand-up specials: “Asian Comedian Destroys America!,” “Speakeasy,” and “Love To Hate It.” He has performed across North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. As an actor, Chieng’s credits include “Crazy Rich Asians,” “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” and “M3GAN,” with television roles in “Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.,” “Young Rock,” and “Interior Chinatown.” He currently stars in “The Miniature Wife.”<\/p>\n
Mohan Hathi, the second marshal of the Class Committee, expressed honor in having Chieng speak, noting his insightful and humorous approach to challenging topics, which promises to be engaging as the class reflects on their Harvard journey and future prospects. Originally from Malaysia and raised in Singapore and New Hampshire, Chieng holds degrees in law and commerce from the University of Melbourne and began his comedy career in Australia before moving to New York in 2015 to join “The Daily Show.”<\/p>\n
